Jackal, Black Backed

The Black Backed Jackal is found throughout southern Africa. The only notable difference between the male and female is that the male weighs a little more.

This crafty little predator feed on young antelopes. Their primary feed, however, is based on mice and rabbits, as well as larger insects and fruit. The Black Backed Jackal prefers open, dry grasslands with sufficient coverage.

Black Backed Jackal is fantastic to adapt to all types of terrain and habitats. They usually live in solitude.

Black Backed Jackal may be killed with almost any rifle. Often, the chance of shooting occurs while you are on the hunt for another wild species, so the choice of rifle and rifle calibre will often be the one you have at hand. It is recommended that you use full-jacketed projectiles for this wild species.

To improve the chance of shooting this very shy animal, a night-hunt with spotlights and electronic predator calls can be attempted.
