Side By Side Safaris offers a very exciting hunt for Caracal - with dogs. We work together with one of the top professional hunters in South Africa, specializing in search of Caracal with his own dog team.

The Caracal is usually only night-active, but on this exciting form of hunt, you get the opportunity to hunt this wild species, in a very exciting way during the day. It can be a demanding hunt, and you as a hunter must perform at your absolute best, as the terrain and the hunt can be extremely challenging.

Side By Side Safaris has one of the very best areas in the Eastern Cape Province suitable for hunting the Caracal with dogs. The hunting area is located a short distance from the coast, to the Southeast of our exclusive hunting lodge.

In addition to hunting with dogs, there are many Caracals in the area around Side By Side Safaris hunting lodge, where you may be lucky enough to shoot one in the early morning or evening hours.

The Caracal’s prey is primarily birds, small mammals and reptiles, but it is also known for taking medium-sized antelopes such as Duiker or Steenbok.

Caracal hunting

If you’re hunting Caracals with dogs, it will be shot with a shotgun. Often there will be the chance of shooting at 15-25 yards, and often high up in a tree where the cat has taken refuge.

We recommend a 7 day hunt to maximize the chance of shooting a big Caracal. Normally, you could be lucky enough to shoot a nice Caracal during fewer than 7 hunting days.
