Pere David's Deer

The Pére David's deer is one of the exciting introduced game species that can be hunted in South Africa. This wild species originally comes from its primary habitat in China. Today there is also a stock in the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa, where Side By Side Safaris has hunting rights.

Pére David's deer is a uniquely adaptable animal and live primarily in the semi-open terrain.

Only the males are wearing horns, which are thrown every year. It grows impressively large antlers, making it a coveted trophy.

Pére David's deer is a large and hardy wild species, and should be hunted with a minimum calibre of .270 or .30-06. Larger riffle calibres will also be recommended.

Side By Side Safaris has a large hunting concession northeast of our exclusive hunting lodge, where there is a population of Pére David's deer, with a trophy quality of the highest possible standard.
