The Red Lechwe is a medium-sized reddish antelope with distinctive, dark markings on its forelegs.

This coveted trophy is found in large sustainable flocks in Side By Side Safaris’ nearby hunting concession where trophy quality is absolutely top class.

It originates from the Okavango Delta in Botswana and the Caprivi Strip in Namibia.

Only males are bearing horns. Red Lechwe will always be found near water or swamp. It is found primarily in shallow floodplains or swampy reed areas.

Red Lechwe form flocks of 10 to 30 animals, and can often be spotted in the swamps where they stand in water up to their knees.

The Hunt for Red Lechwe can be a real challenge, as it is often hunted in swampy environments where the hunt is made difficult by the terrain. Long shots will often occur when hunting Red Lechwe.

Hunting Common Lechwe

A recommended calibre for this wild species should be a .270 or .30-06. As always, it is important to use quality ammunition.
