The Scimitar Horned Oryx is an exciting wild species, originating from its primary habitats in the deserts of Algeria, Burkina Faso, Chad and Egypt. Today there is also a stock in the Karoo desert in the Eastern Cape province in South Africa, where Side By Side Safaris has hunting rights.

The Scimitar Horned Oryx is a uniquely adaptable animal. They live primarily in open terrain, and can survive in the harshest environments such as extreme desert areas. It can survive without water for months, only living of the liquid it gains from its food.

A Scimitar Horned Oryx female tend to be slightly smaller than the male, while the horns are slimmer and usually longer on females.
