Red Hartebeest
The Red Hartebeest is known for the design of its notable horns.
Both sexes wear these very unique horns, but the ones of males are significantly stronger.
Red Hartebeest have a strong herd instinct, and form flocks of up to 20 animals. The bulls are extremely territorial and will defend their territory against all intruders at any cost.
The Red Hartebeest are commonly found in dry savannah areas. Hartebeest prefer the open plains, but can also be found in open bush land. It is primarily a grass eater, but can also be seen eating leaves from trees, shrubs and bushes.
Hunting Red Hartebeest
It is recommended to use a relatively large rifle calibre. A 7mm, .30-06 or even a .300 Mag is recommended.
