Warthog

The Warthog is a very popular hunting trophy for many safari clients.
Warthogs favour open terrain, ponds and dry riverbeds. They are often seen grazing on newly sprouted grass. The name comes from the warts in their face, two on females and four on males.

Their canines vary in size, but can be very long on males. Males usually have a slightly larger body than females.

The hunt for Warthogs is often attempted in swampy areas or near ponds. They often live in abandoned caves dug by an ant-bear.

Warthogs are usually seen in small family groups. The female and the piglets can stay together for up to 3 years. The male joins the group when the mating season approaches.

A Warthog has bad eyesight, but its nose and ears works quite well! A 7mm or .30-06 will be effective in the hunt for this wild species.

Side By Side Safaris offers hunting for trophy-sized warthogs in a great hunting area, which offers a perfect habitat for Warthogs with plenty of water and marshy areas.
