Side by Side Safaris exclusive 6-star safari lodge is located centrally in our own Klipplaat grounds, some three hours by car from Port Elizabeth International airport. The lodge is situated up high on a rocky slope with a magnificent view over the surrounding landscape. In the distance, the mountains of the Karoo desert can be seen. It is here, that our driven hunts for springbok are staged. Immediately below the lodge there is a large pond where a variety of antelopes, monkeys and birds come to drink. The pond is water filled all year round, a fact that contributes to maintaining a rich population of game animals in the area.

The actual lodge buildings are designed in a modern, luxurious interpretation of a traditional African village. The roofs of the buildings are made of a thick reed thatch, which gives the huts an individual visual appearance. The thatch also provides a perfect shelter against the sun on hot days. The power supply at the lodge comes from our own highly efficient solar panel that generates enough power to run both minibars, refrigerators, freezers and other electrical equipment. The lodge also has its own supply of clean fresh water drawn from a deep well situated in a nearby valley.
