Klipspringer

The Klipspringer is different from the other small antelope. It has big black ‘tear ducts’ located in the inner corners of its eyes. It is only the males which carry horns.

The Klipspringer is covered with a dense layer of short, feather-like hair. The meat from a klipspringer is considered to be one of the finest among African antelopes.

This small antelope is found only in rocky mountainous areas.
It is mostly independent of water, but will drink if water is available. Klipspringers are found mostly in pairs, but will sometimes form small family groups.

It is recommended to use a rifle calibre .270 with full jacketed ammunition.
Soft and fast expanding bullets will damage the skin with the very loose hair.

Hunting for Klipspringer can be a real challenge because of the terrain. It requires a good physical fitness to hunt this antelope, since they live high in the mountains.

Side By Side Safaris has a large nearby hunting concession with a strong population of Klipspringer with a trophy quality of the highest possible standard.
