The Mountain Reedbuck is a medium-large antelope that are generally found in mountainous and rocky areas with steep slopes. Only the males have horns, which are short, heavily grooved and slightly curved forward. Mountain Reedbuck is grey-brown in colour.

This wild species can easily be confused with Common Reedbuck, though somewhat larger in stature and a bit more reddish in colour. An old Mountain Reedbuck with horns longer than its ears will be a great trophy. They live in flocks of 3 to 10 animals, usually consisting of females and cubs. The males usually only join the pack when females are in the rutting season.
