Lechwe, Nile

Nile Lechwe, also known as Mrs Gray's Lechwe, is a medium-sized antelope where the males are completely black with a characteristic big white mark on the front of the back. The females are single colored red-brown.

This coveted and extremely rare trophy is found only in a single hunting area in South Africa where the animals were introduced many years ago. Today there is a good population in the area and with Side by Side Safaris you have the chance to hunt this rare trophy, which only a few hunters in the world have taken.

Normally, the origins of Nile Lechwe are Southern Sudan and Ethiopia.

Only the males have horns. Nile Lechwe will always be found near water and swamps.

Recommended caliber for this animal will be a caliber .270 or 30.06. As always for African wildlife, it is important to use quality ammunition.
